Reverend Mark A. Whittaker joined the staff of FUMC as Senior Pastor in June of 2000. Pastor Mark
received his Masters of Divinity degree from Chandler Theological Seminary at Another crucial part of the Pastor’s work here at FUMC is general supervision and consultative leadership to the staff and the many programs and ministries of the church. Pastor Mark is always available to individuals and their families, call to the office to make an appointment. Working closely with the parish visitor and visitation care committee, he also makes regular hospital and home visits. He is also available for baptisms, weddings and funerals. If you or a loved one would like a visit from Pastor Mark, or need to make any arrangements, please contact the church office.
Pastor Mark lives with his wife, Iris, in Homosassa and is the father to two adult children,
Kimberly & Marshall. He enjoys working with Habitat for Humanity, is a member of Kiwanis, and is
active with the Nature Coast Ministerial Association. He also volunteers at the

Besides giving general supervision and consultative leadership to the staff and to many of the programs and ministries of the church, Pastor Whittaker is available to individuals and families in the following ways: Counseling. A phone call to the church office is all that is necessary to make an appointment to discuss a personal or family problem. Crisis Counseling. Pastor Whittaker, or another staff member, is usually available in crisis situations and will suggest further community resources if needed. Hospital Visitation. Pastor Whittaker regularly visits in local hospitals. Be sure to inform the church office when you, or a member of your family, is hospitalized. Nursing Homes and Home Bound. Our Parish Visitor calls regularly on these members. Pastor Whittaker visits by request and as he is able.

Death. At the time of the death of a family member, Pastor Whittaker expects to be called so he may be available to help during this difficult period of loss and to plan an appropriate funeral or memorial service. Home Visits. Pastor Whittaker will be glad to make a pastoral visit in your home. It is usually best to make a specific request and set a convenient time when you will be at home. Children’s Baptism. Parents who wish to present their children for the Sacrament of Baptism should plan to meet with Pastor Whittaker in preparation for the Baptism. Marriage. Couples should schedule well in advance in order to meet with Pastor Whittaker and the Wedding Coordinator in preparation for the wedding ceremony.
